Best definition of the term "Corporate Culture"
If you ask 10 people to define "organizational culture", you get 11 different answers!
Luckily, in my consulting and writing on leadership and organizational change, I have my definition of organizational culture:
"Corporate culture is how every employee knows, or she has to act - even if no one is watching."
Knowledge of your business is crucial for cultural shows several reasons, including:
+ Onlyorganizational changes that fit into the culture of your company will succeed.
Changes do not fit into the culture will fail and not achieve desired results.
+ Car Hire employees who fit into the corporate culture. That is to say, "do not try to put a square peg into a round hole shape!"
Quickest route to the ceiling Your Organization's Culture
From my consulting experience, I developed a super-quick way to discover to discover the culture of a company: they know the history of all employees and others are sayingEmployees. In fact, hearing the company's signature story is a center-right place for new employees. Hearing the story implicitly expect a new employee's actions and values of the organization.
Two examples are taken from my book entitled "Absolutely Fabulous Organizational Change (TM): Strategies for Success from America's Best-Run Companies.
1. Story: The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company
Leonardo Inghilleri, Senior Vice President of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company,told me that this story is often repeated among the employees of his company.
"Ladies and Gentlemen Serving Ladies & Gentlemen"
When he 14 years old, Horst Schulze - currently President of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company - worked as an apprentice waiter in a very good restaurant in his native Germany. First, he saw himself as "servant."
Then he saw the fine restaurant was occupied by highly qualified experts. For example, he watched in awe as he repeatedlysaw the maitre d 'with chat and entertain the guests. In fact, the maitre d 'speaks many languages. So, he spoke German, the German guests, the guests in French and English French to English customers. He also helped with their professional guests food and wine selection.
From this experience, it dawned Horst Schulze, that a luxury establishment of ladies and gentlemen serving ladies and gentlemen there. He brought this insight into theRitz-Carlton Hotel Company, where he is now President.
Ritz-Carlton's culture
Horst Schulze, president of the company's experience leads to The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company's slogan brings customer care to express that exactly match the corporate culture: "We Are Ladies and Gentlemen Serving Ladies and Gentlemen." Note: The corporate culture fits perfectly with Ritz-Carlton is great, exciting, compelling vision: "Our main goal is to become the world's leading provider of luxury travel andHospitality products and services. "
2. Story: Intuit
Brooks Fisher, Vice President and General Manager of Intuit's consumer Internet business, told me that Intuit's signature story is as follows:
"Follow Me Home"
Scott Cook, founder of Intuit, was so on the understanding and to serve the needs of the customers that he invented "Follow Me Home is concentrated." He went into a shop where Intuit's software was being sold. Then, as a customer bought Intuit's software, he would askcould follow when the client home. In the house he would see how to install the client and the software.

Given Intuit's story is what the company culture - or priorities? Fisher says the story conveys culture Intuit, which is "The customer always comes first." And, as Fisher puts it: "That's how you win." Note: The story is exactly mesh with large, Intuit compelling vision: "Our main goal is to revolutionize how people financialWork. "
Hire candidates who "fit in" Your Company's Culture
They know that it is difficult to "fit a square peg into a round hole." Likewise, companies have to stop candidates who "fit in" their organizational culture.

Then you can Uncover Your Organization's Culture
To discover your corporate culture, you only need to discover the history,
1. To hear people in the first weeks on the job again, and to new employees
2. perfectly conveys howAll employees must act - even if no one is watching!
In general, the story is about the founder of the company. It provides a rule knowledge and actions to a remarkable, profitable success.
